Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Perhaps we’ll be fine without him, but I suspect we’ll miss his leadership and canny experience as usual. Declan May one day be a great captain, but it’s too early for him right now.

Obviously we need our next leader to start showing the right qualities now, as we can’t rely on Noble forever, or even much longer, but my gut tells me he’s still the best we’ve got.

I agree with that as well but I think we have a lot of younger, better players there this season, it is our deepest position.

Noble has done about anything you can do in central midfield at the very least a decent level. The role that requires more physicality, never his strong point but one that he gave his all and never hid in, is the one that there may be more openings. Unfortunately age will often take that first.

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Yes, mate. Add to that his first quality spell when he had Tevez to play with.

Exactly right. Remember the last season at UP with the likes of Payet, Lanzini and a firing Antonio in front of him?!

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Reason I like noble is he doesn't give the ball away.

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
We are in desperate need of a box to box midfielder - Like Kouyate when we first signed him. We have no legs up and down the pitch, nobody to get out to people and close teams down.

If we don't hire in this position it will come back to bite us on the arse.

Player in the ilk of Kouyate (first 2 seasons), Idrissa Gueye, Ndidi

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
no

will prob start a bit with injuries tho.

otherwise off the bench will be useful, we know he can pick a decent long pass (hopefully to Haller) if we looking to score on the break, or provide some extra cover in front of defense if we are hanging on.

wish we would get some cover for rice in. (who wasnt even a DM himself before last season).

Really seems to be our new blindspot for years on end. Like right back used to be.

thats the fucking 'saviours' for you.

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
You would think that the manager would know that he needs an upgrade on Noble. It's all very well buying another centre half but why not buy a DM to go with Rice and stop other teams getting right into our defence time after time. £30m for Franck Kessie, you know it makes sense. Not going to happen though.

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
A massive issue with Noble is the amount of times he loses possession and doesn't have the legs to get back

Against the better teams we always get crucified

So for City, I'd play Wilshire alongside Rice

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Hermit, lack of pace, yes; lack of ability, not true.

He has bags of skill, passing ability and vision, plus he never shirks a challenge. The myth he only ever passes sideways and backwards comes from all the times he’s played with dross that gives him no decent movement. He will shine surrounded by Lanzini, Fornals, Anderson and Haller, as will a fit Wilshere.

No doubt age is catching up with him, but I wouldn’t be the least surprised if he has his best season.

But at some point you have develop new leadership.
He is not going play forever even if you thing he is net plus playing now, which I don't.

Defended him against stupid abuse for years, but that is my opinion now.

Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Canada: Fornals - “in everything but leadership.”

Huh? Isn’t that what we’ve been saying is lacking when Nobes ain’t there?

Hermit Road 1:04 Fri Aug 2
Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
He never does and then he always does because he's mr consistency, a manager's dream.

I think his lack of pace and average ability really costs us in the middle of the pitch but you cant help but admire the career he's had.

ironsofcanada 11:30 Fri Aug 2
Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Did we not just do this topic?

First eleven in cups, I hope not in the league.

As ED says Fornals should be an upgrade on Noble, in everything but leadership, penalties and willingness to give it a go in a role that he is really not suited.

Eerie Descent 11:17 Fri Aug 2

That's what Fornals was brought in for, Meltdown son.

Vexed 10:55 Fri Aug 2

He has to start, we haven't bought anyone that can adequately do his role. Again.

If you don't recognise his value to the squad though, I do worry that you're a fucking retard.

There, corrected that for you.

Darby_ 6:34 Fri Aug 2
Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
Yeah, I just think we look a better team with him, maybe because his passion inspires the other players. Same with Snodders. I’d always try to have one or the other in a starting squad.

I’d probably start the season with Noble and Wilshire in front of Rice.

White Pony 12:54 Fri Aug 2
Re: Noble: does he make your first eleven?
I think he's important to the squad. He is a leader. Whenever we played like a bunch of worthless arrogant cunts last season, generally it was without him. He was invariably brought back in and instantly our attitude improved.

He might not flatter to deceive like some players. If you don't recognise his value to the squad though, I do worry that you're fucking blind.

Noble is missed when he is not there.
